Defining the American Orchestra Musician:
Learning which questions to ask

Polyphonic.org is sponsoring research among professional orchestra musicians from throughout the U.S, and we're looking for volunteers to participate. Results of the study, thought to be the first of its kind, will help musicians define their own unique needs, allow conservatories and schools of music to design the best possible programs, lay the groundwork for further research, and ultimately to enhance the professional development and broaden the perspectives of orchestra musicians.

Participation includes completing a simple online questionnaire and a 20-30 minute telephone interview. If you are a contracted musician from a ROPA, ICSOM, or IGSOBM ensemble and are interested in participating in this research, or would like to know more about it, please contact us below.

In order to foster an environment of safety and to improve the reliability of data, the identity of all musician respondents will be kept strictly confidential. Committee chairs are encouraged to contact us using the form below so you can learn more about the project, ask questions, and offer suggestions.
