During this 13 week course, instructors David Angus and Robert Levine will cover topics such as contracts, legal issues, bargaining, cooperative relationships, and participate in mock negotiations. These seasoned negotiators will walk you through the process from beginning to end.

Course begins January 13, 2019 and continues for 13
weeks. The course is structured to allow for maximum flexibility to
conform to a musician's schedule!

Learn about vital issues such as collective bargaining, recent changes in bargaining, approaches to bargaining, forming committees, and timetables for preparing for symphony negotiations. In the complex 21st century world of orchestral music, this is a course you simply can't afford to miss!

This 13-week online course is expected to require approximately 3 hours per week to complete the modules assigned. There will be training available for those unfamiliar with the Blackboard system.

Special guest video lectures will include experts Patricia Polach, Lawyer for Bredhoff & Kaiser, Nathan Kahn, Negotiator for the Symphonic Services Division of the American Federation of Musicians, Len Leibowitz, Counsel for the International Conference of Symphony and Opera Musicians (ICSOM), Peter Pastreich, Former Executive Director of the San Francisco Symphony, and Joel Schaffer, Mediator with the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service.

Course Cost: $150 (all participants will be awarded a $100 scholarship to be refunded at the time of course completion)
