Ron Bauers

Ron Bauers passed away in January, 2009. He taught undergraduate and graduate level courses in accounting and information systems at the University of Nebraska at Omaha, College of Business Administration after having taught at several other institutions of higher education in the United States and internationally. He held a BA in Psychology, a Masters in Business Administration, a Masters in Professional Accounting and was in the process of completing a Doctorate in Public Administration. His research areas were in fraud, computer security and privacy, and not-for-profit organizations. He held the CPA, CMA and CIA certifications in public accounting, management accounting and internal auditing.

Before entering academia full-time Ron worked in business for 20 years as a consultant providing services in accounting, finance, and information systems for individuals, businesses, and not-for-profit organizations. Ron held memberships and was active in several accounting and information systems associations.

Ron's interest and involvement in orchestra, opera and ballet accounting and finance was the result of his serving on the Board of Directors and as Vice President of Local 70-558 in Omaha. Robert Levine has written a moving tribute to Ron on behalf of all the orchestra, opera, and ballet musicians Ron helped over many years.
