Jason Hurwitz

Jason first realized that he wanted to play the violin at age 3 after seeing Itzhak Perlman play for Oscar the Grouch on Sesame Street; at age 5, he started in the Suzuki program in his hometown of Williamsport, Pennsylvania. Jason graduated from the University of Miami's Frost School of Music with a degree in Music Education, and is an alumnus of the Beta Tau chapter of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia. Although classically trained, he got into alternative violin in his high school's Strolling Strings group, and continued pushing the violin's limits throughout college. Currently, Jason is in his fourth year as a performer with Barrage, an alternative-violin stage show, and also holds the elected position of Players' Representative to the American Federation of Musicians.
