Booking question for Personnel Managers

I'll post first! ;) I'm not a personnel manager, but my question is for you:

If an artist wants national exposure and lives in a smaller market (I'm in Denver) what kind of manager would be best, how would they find them, and what are the best avenues to continue in this direction?
